App.Tracker Privacy Policy

App.Tracker is a desktop application that runs entirely on your own computer. It has no accounts, no servers, and no analytics. We do not receive your data, because the application never sends it anywhere.

The short version. Everything you enter stays in files in your own user profile. The application makes no outbound network connections. The only copies that leave your computer are backups you configure yourself, to a folder you choose.

1. Who this policy is from

App.Tracker is published by Perry Schippers, trading as RANN APPS ("RANN APPS", "we"). Questions about this policy can be sent to info-rann-apps@NorthMail.ca.

2. Information we collect

None. App.Tracker does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. Specifically, the application contains no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, and no automatic update checks that report anything about you.

There is no account to create and no password to set, so we hold no credentials and no user records of any kind.

3. What the application stores on your computer

App.Tracker writes to your own user profile, by default under ~/.apptracker — on Windows, a folder named .apptracker inside your user directory. It contains:

• Your records. The applications, change requests, notes, links and status history you enter, in a SQLite database (tracker.db) and an append-only log (events.jsonl).

• Your settings. A config.json file holding your preferences, the list of databases you have created, and the owner details described below.

• Exports you generate. Markdown and spreadsheet files, written only where you tell the application to write them.

These files are yours. You can read them, copy them, move them, or delete them with ordinary file tools, with or without the application.

4. Owner details

The application asks for your name, and optionally an address and region, so that a database records who created it. This is useful when a database is shared or archived and someone needs to know whose it was.

This information is typed by you, stored on your computer in config.json and inside the database file, and is never transmitted. You can change or remove it at any time in Settings.

5. Backups, and cloud folders

App.Tracker can copy your log, a database snapshot, a spreadsheet and your markdown exports to a backup folder that you nominate. This is off until you set a folder. Backups are written one way: the application never reads from the backup folder back into your live data.

If you choose a folder that a cloud service synchronises — Sync.com, OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox or similar — then your backups will be uploaded to that service by that service, under its own privacy policy and its own terms. App.Tracker has no connection to any cloud provider and cannot see, upload, or retrieve anything from one. Choosing a synchronised folder is your decision, and the provider you choose becomes responsible for that copy.

6. Git integration

If you point an application record at a local Git repository, App.Tracker can run git on your computer to read that repository's commit history, and record commit identifiers, subjects, authors and dates against your change requests.

This reads your local repository only. It does not contact GitHub, GitLab, or any hosting service, and it does not authenticate anywhere. The feature is optional and does nothing unless you configure a repository path.

7. Network activity

The application's interface is served over a loopback connection (127.0.0.1) on your own machine — the same computer is both the client and the server. Nothing leaves the machine over that connection.

The interface loads no external fonts, scripts, images, or stylesheets. It sets no cookies and uses no browser storage. There are no third-party services embedded in the application.

8. If you installed from the Microsoft Store

Microsoft distributes, installs and updates the application, and Microsoft collects information about that transaction — such as your purchase or acquisition, and basic installation and crash data — under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. That collection is Microsoft's, not ours, and we do not receive personal information from it.

9. Children

App.Tracker is a tool for software development work and is not directed at children. Because the application collects no information at all, it collects none from children.

10. Your control over your information

Because everything is stored on your own computer, you do not need to ask us for access, correction, or deletion — there is nothing held on our side to act on. To remove your data entirely, uninstall the application and delete the .apptracker folder in your user directory, along with any backup folder you configured.

Note that the event log is append-only by design: within a database, history is corrected by adding a new entry rather than by rewriting an old one. Deleting the files removes everything.

11. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted here with a new effective date. Material changes to what the application does with your data will also be described in the release notes for the version that introduces them.
